I’ll book your non-refundable lodging at each destination as double occupancy within 72 hours of your reservation payment.
Maximum 14 persons combined as a family or Scout group or maximum of 10 combined as a mixed group. We’ll have kayaks and bicycles and fishing equipment that you are welcome to use from town to town at no charge. Whether a beginner or expert kayaker the water is a great way to see any harbor or bay (helpful for fishing too) and we’ll be around a lot of harbors and bays up here! Feel like a taking a bicycle ride to the ice cream stand then be our guest! Want to try fishing here then we have the gear you need. Kayaks and bicycles and fishing gear are free to use you just have to sign a liability waiver and replacement agreement in case you don’t bring it back with you.
Day 1 Whittier We’ll depart Anchorage between 8:00-10:00 once everyone has been briefed on our safety and operation policies. Then it’s off to a quick uptown Anchorage driving tour and then southbound down the super scenic Turnagain Arm! We’ll do a short drive through Girdwood and then off to one of the most amazing tunnels in north America called the Anton Anderson Tunnel! This is a tunnel that has been bored through the bottom of a mountain that is 2.5 miles long and takes 6+ minutes to get through end to end and has survived many earthquakes over the decades. Once we get there we’ll check into the Inn at Whittier and get ready for your preferred activity(s). This is a great place for a short bicycle ride around town or to paddle the bay or just a walk around the docks. We carry fishing gear and tools on board if you wanted to try inshore fishing here or any destination we go.
Day 2 Valdez Get ready for a super wonderful trip here you that wont find anywhere else! A ride on the fantastic Alaska Marine Highway System Ferry with our vehicle from Whittier to Valdez! We’ll stay at the Best Western and most likely eat at the Fat Mermaid for some great local food. For an affordable cost we can take a private power boat ride out of the Port of Valdez to the ocean for fishing and all kinds of sea life including whales, sea otters and sea birds. If you’re a kayaker you’ll not want to miss paddling this place. Best Western checkout time is also our departure time because we have a long drive to Denali!
Day 3 Denali We’ll be departing Valdez stopping right outside town for awesome pictures and sounds of a glacier melt waterfall pouring off the mountain. After that its buckle up for a long ride time. We’ll stop for a potty break in Glenn Allen and get ready again for another long ride to Glacier view for some awesome photos and then… off to beautiful Palmer for lunch and up the Mat-Su valley with views off Mount McKinley to our hotel in Talkeetna! We can visit local museums and other attractions before and after dinner.
Day 4 Seward but first… we’ll drive up AK3 past Trapper Creek to get a few more views of Mount McKinley before making the trek south to Nancy Lake for a quick driving tour then on the way to through Willow and Wasilla to our voted on lunch location in Anchorage. Then we get to see the Turnagain Arm again on our way to Seward! We’ll follow the Seward highway through Moose Pass and ultimately descend down the mountainside to beautiful Seward! We’ll check into the Harbor 360 Hotel and get on to your activity of choice or simply rest up in your room and prepare for dinner. Seward is beautiful from the air, land or water so kayakers and hikers don’t miss this one! Seward is also home to the Alaska Sea Life Center and is very worthy of your time. Dinner wherever you want but I’m going to Rays.
Day 5 Soldotna Our next destination is only a couple hours away so our departure time from Seward is flexible. If our group want’s more time here we can delay until noon or so. We’ll stop in Cooper Landing for pictures of where Kenai Lake turns into the Kenai River. Then south to the Historic Kenai River bridge and the Soldotna Visitor Center. We’ll walk the staircase behind the visitor center down to a walking platform on the river. Once we’re done here we’ll go across the river and check into the Kenai River Lodge. Dinner wherever you want but I’ll probably go to Buckets Sports Lounge.
Day 6 Homer A short ride from Soldotna so departure time is flexible. Oh there’s no place like Home-r. Known as the Halibut Capital of the World Homer is a quaint town on the water with some of the widest mountain views you will see. Photo ops here there and everywhere! We’ll check into our hotel and take a short driving bay tour and then down the infamous Homer Spit for lunch and shops or whatever your preferred activities may be. Usually a little windy for kayaking here but a bike ride through the breeze on the Homer Spit can be a refreshing experience. Dinner at the historic Salty Dog Saloon and find a way to enjoy your last evening on the Kenai Peninsula before we settle in for the night.
Day 7 Anchorage Our departure time is somewhat flexible but if we stay in Homer too long we will have less time in the City of Kenai. Kenai is the city where the Kenai River ends into the saltwater of Cook Inlet. We’ll stop by the Kenai Visitor Center and observe some very interesting local and regional history here. After lunch we’re headed back north to Anchorage stopping here and there as time permits travelling through Soldotna, Sterling, Cooper Landing and Girdwood. This return part of the trip we will share with each other the places and activities we would like to see or do again or not. We’ll get you safely back to our departure location where your hotel shuttle can pick you up or directly to your hotel.
