Day 1 Seward We’ll depart Anchorage between 8:00-9:00 once everyone has been briefed on our safety and operation policies. Then it’s southbound down the super scenic Turnagain Arm! We’ll do a short drive through Girdwood and then off to one of the most amazing tunnels in north America called the Alton Anderson Tunnel! This is a tunnel that has been bored through the bottom of a mountain that is 2.5 miles long and takes 6+ minutes to get through end to end and has amazingly survived many earthquakes unharmed. Once we get there we’ll have lunch at the Inn at Whittier and a quick town tour then departure to Seward. Many things to see and do in Seward and on top of that list for many is the Alaska Sea Life Center.
Day 2 Soldotna Our next destination is only a couple hours away so our departure time from Seward is somewhat flexible. We’ll stop in Cooper Landing for pictures of where Kenai Lake turns into the Kenai River. Then south to lunch and hotel check in at the Kenai River Lodge. Once checked in we’ll cross the Historic Kenai River bridge and stop at the Soldotna Visitor Center. We’ll walk the staircase behind the visitor center down to a safety platform on the river. Once we’re done here we’ll take a quick trip to the City of Kenai Visitor center to experience some super interesting local and regional history.
Day 3 Homer We should leave Soldotna early morning. Known as the Halibut Capital of the World, Homer is a quaint little town on the water with some of the widest and longest mountain views you will see across the Kachemac Bay. Photo ops are here there and everywhere! We’ll take a short driving tour and then down the infamous Homer Spit for lunch and shops or whatever your preferred activities may be. Usually a little windy for kayaking here but a bike ride through the breeze on the Homer Spit can be a refreshing experience. Grab a shirt at the historic Salty Dog Saloon and get postcards for your family and friends before heading back to 4902 Spenard Road Anchorage. On our return trip back we will share the places and things we would see and do again or not.
Thank you for considering touring Alaska with us!
